Internship Excitement

Hi everyone! So I have a bit of news! I’m excited to share with you that I have been interning at a vintage clothing shop in Boston. It’s known as Artifaktori and let me tell you it is a small shop full of wonder. There’s so much fashion history packed into this one place!
It’s been almost a month and I’ve been learning a tremendous amount of things. My first day I was in the store getting familiar with the brands and what Artifaktori carries. I also wrote a blog post about several of the events the store is participating in. You can check that out right here!

My second day I was able to go to an Artikaftori studio where they keep many of the vintage clothes and garments from the etsy shop. I was able to help prepare for the Sturbridge Antique Textile and Vintage Fashion Show and Sale that took place July 8th (our next show in Sturbridge is September 2nd)! So the studio was jaw dropping. Everything vintage all in one lovely place. Not to say the store isn’t amazing but the studio is that and more!
There was so many vintage treasure I couldn’t contain myself. But I obviously got it together and helped Amy and Amanda (RedBird) prepare for the show. I learned how to steam, measure, and price garments. I also have my eye on a bunch of pieces I want for myself…
Anyway I’ve been back at the store a couple of times now and I’m really loving it. I recently wrote another blog post about tips on Gatsby Style in preparation for the Roaring 1920s Lawn Party out in Ipswich, Ma.
And as my final piece of information to share last Sunday I was in charge of the Artifaktori Booth at the SoWa Vintage Market in South Boston. I had no real supervision so it was an excited moment for myself! I brought my sister along with me and we had a wonderful time.
Sowa is a magical place with gourmet food trucks, fashion trucks, a farmers market, a crafts market, and a vintage market. All my favorite things in one place. It was an amazing experience, despite my sister and I sweating through our dresses we had a lot of fun, met a lot of interesting people, and learned a lot. I would definitely manage the booth again!
That’s what I’ve been up to lately…well besides keeping up with my summer classes, working, and trying to have a social life 🙂

Hope you have a lovely day and if you’re ever in the Boston area look up the Artifaktori store and pay me a visit! I’m there every Tuesday from 12-5…unless told otherwise 😉
